The hot topic of today, or the last 36 hours, is the chaos that is 2.6 inches of snow in Atlanta. Some people are trying to come up with clever names for it such as Snow Jam, or Snowmageddon, but we've already had storms with those names in the past. My personal favorite is... CLUSTER FLAKE 2014!
I think that name really sums up this freaking mess in a city already notorious for traffic. Several of my friends were stranded in their cars for 24 hours or more. One of them, we'll call her JCruz, was stuck in her company VW bug in the worst part of the city, which we call SWAT, or Southwest Atlanta. She finally made it to my condo in Midtown and is sleeping on my sofa. Poor thing. She had to use her car's battery cover as a bed pan so she could pee because she's just not brave enough to pee outside her car in front of people. It must suck to be a woman stuck in this shit. My other friend is having to use her mobile breast pump while stuck in her car. Who even knew they made those, but I'm glad they do. I can't imagine the mess that would cause.
Anywho. This would happen during my last two months in this city. It's fine because I live seventeen stories above a grocery store and a few restaurants and also have a liquor store across the street. Luckily, it only took me 3.5 hours to get home from work yesterday when I left at noon. Had we left at 5:00 like normal, then I'd probably still be out there. I packed an extra pair of clothes, just in case, and also had some food, but the one thing I didn't pack was my Wine. Man, would I have been mad sitting in my car, stranded for hours, without my Apothic Red Wine. I'd have called 911 to report that I was stuck... and sober.
Since JCruz is staying with my partner and me for the night (she lives 25 miles from here and the roads are closed in that area) in our 650 sq ft condo, we are cooking dinner. Not just any dinner, but a paleo friendly dinner. Not to be nice because she's paleo, because she isn't, but for us, because we're paleo and I'll be damned if we're going to stray from our normal eating habits. So glad that Wine is acceptable to consume when you're living the paleo "diet". If it weren't, then I wouldn't make it. So, tonight, we are cooking chicken in the crockpot. I have no idea what to call this, but it's basically just chicken breasts, legs and organic spaghetti sauce. It's been cooking for about 5 hours on medium heat.
We also have some sauteed kale with onions and mushrooms and spaghetti squash (my favorite) to either go on the side or to put your chicken on. It tastes much better than it sounds, I'm sure.
I'll try to post a picture, but I'm horrible about taking pics BEFORE I actually eat it and usually remember to take one after it's just what little remnants are left on my plate. I also need another glass of wine, so I'll say bye for now.
